transit

Japan, 2014

LINES

An overdue sharing of photos I took during a school trip to Japan in 2014. Like my memories of the trip, nothing is in chronological order. Sadly, as with all my experiences on planned tours, no one place I stepped foot on quite stands out - it seems significance is often lost in transit.

Here, Japan is reduced to a mass of harsh lines and distorting shadows.

LIGHT

Shadows cast by the rising sun.

LAVENDER BLUES

It was on this trip that I realised this: to be in Japan is to see the world through lavender-tinted glasses. The coherence of landscapes through the blueish hues, both in her cities and rural parts, is perhaps what lends Japan its renowned tranquility.
